It’s principal aim is to divulge the culture and the present reality of Czech Republic in Italy, especially in the Lazio region, and get together the Czech community living in central Italy. Particular attention is also paid to past and present, cultural and historical ties between both countries.
From the beginning of its activity, Associazione Praga has organized art exhibitions, concerts, conferences and meetings with personalities from Czech Republic, film showings, literary readings and seminars. Each year there are several get-together events, like the already traditional dinner on the occasion of St. Wenceslaus anniversary, the party for children on St. Nicholas Day and other meetings of members and friends of Associazione Praga, where of course the traditional dishes of Czech kitchen can be tasted. Information about future events and also the record of past outcomes you can find in the Italian/Czech version of this website, under the entry Eventi/Události.
Thanks to the kind courtesy of the Pontificio Collegio Nepomuceno, situated in Via Concordia, 1 in Rome, Associazione Praga has at its disposal one room, where is located its library, containing a collection of Czech and Italian books, magazines, VHS cassettes, DVD and tapes. Associazione Praga is cooperating with similar compatriot organizations and is in touch with several associations of foreign communities in Italy. In the zone of Rome and Lazio region, good contacts with Italian administrative, cultural and educational organizations were established.
Last, but absolutely not least, it’s necessary to underline the very good cooperation with the Czech Republic Embassy in Rome and consecutively with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Prague. Associazione Praga also established a good relationship with the Czech Centre (Istituto Culturale Ceco), opened in Rome in April 2005.
